I've photographed water drops before...but none like this! I'm not sure how to create the "ring of water" around the drop. I have the patience...now all I need is the technique! =D Do you have any suggestions?

p.s. your gallery is amazing! Keep up the great work ;)

hi there
I could try and explain, but I have a better idea. Here is a link to the tutorial that I used. This guy Rich Allen is the guru of water drops. The best there is and I learned everything from him. I could never explain it as he does, and my drops are childs play compaired to his stuff. He is also a DeviantArt Member. I hope I can even come close to his work some day. Simply stunning, check it out here.

Hope this helps you out. If not, get back to me and we can work on a personal level. Be prepared to take 200 to 300 pictures for ONE decent keeper though.

Glad that you like the water drop photos. It takes a couple hundred shots to get one good photo. Lots of patience is required.

Glad you liked it. Its really a simple pic using a bucket of water and an eyedropper. Lens was a 90mm Macro at f/10 I think. A tripod and good lightimg iccluding a flash is essential as well as two 250W halogen bulbs.
